This is complemented by a comprehensive Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system that will enable more efficient operation of their approximately 13,600 km network, effectively lowering carbon emissions by 13% and enhancing wastewater treatment capacity by 20%.
The company is also making inroads into Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan, where it aims to establish significant partnerships to meet the region’s rising water demands due to climate change and population growth. Their recent collaboration with the New Tashkent City Directorate is aimed at developing a 65 km raw water transmission pipeline and a substantial water treatment facility to cater to around two million residents in the burgeoning New Tashkent City.
In alignment with the UAE’s Water Security Strategy 2036, where a target of 95% recycled water utilisation has been set, TAQA Water Solutions has already achieved an 80% utilisation rate in Abu Dhabi and hopes to reach 100% by 2030.
