Abu Dhabi hosts groundbreaking Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit 2025 showcasing future mobility

The 4th edition of the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) 2025 concluded after three intensive days from 21 to 23 April at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in the Middle East and North Africa’s electric mobility sector. The summit showcased a diverse range of advancements in electric transport, smart infrastructure, robotics, and sustainability, cementing Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional leader in clean and innovative mobility solutions.

With over 200 exhibitors representing more than 30 countries, EVIS 2025 has established itself as the premier electric vehicle-focused event in the region. The exhibition floor buzzed with enthusiasm as visitors encountered cutting-edge technologies and futuristic vehicles. Among the spectrum of displays were fully electric SUVs, high-performance supercars, advanced fleet management systems, next-generation battery technologies, and smart charging infrastructure designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving transport landscape.

The summit drew thousands of attendees, including investors, government officials, engineers, academics, and members of the public eager to engage with the transformative technologies propelling the electric vehicle revolution.

Prominent innovations unveiled at the event included the XPeng X2 Air Taxi, a visionary autonomous flying vehicle that captured the imagination of many attendees. Another notable highlight was Autogo’s RoboTaxi, an autonomous vehicle initiative developed collaboratively by Abu Dhabi’s Kintsugi Holding and the Integrated Transport Centre, reflecting the city’s strides toward smart urban mobility solutions. Medasia Marine presented its E-Clipse Solar Boats, which offer emission-free cruising powered by solar energy coupled with optional hydrogen fuel cells, underscoring the growing focus on marine sustainability.

Iskraemeco introduced its EV Charging Ecosystem, promoting smart, scalable, and sustainable charging solutions aimed at expanding EV infrastructure capabilities. Tesla made a strong impact with the debut of its Optimus Gen 2 Robot, a humanoid machine demonstrating improved mobility and dexterity, capable of performing simple autonomous tasks that hint at the future synergy between robotics and daily or industrial applications.

The event was also a stage for launching fresh electric vehicle models designed to meet diverse consumer needs. Highlights included the Dongfeng 007, a mid-size electric SUV from China boasting an impressive range exceeding 500 kilometres and fast-charging capability. The Lucid Gravity SUV, acclaimed for its luxurious styling and maximum range performance, attracted significant attention alongside the Tesla Cybertruck and Model Y, which were displayed with new battery technologies and enhanced autopilot features. Other vehicles included the BYD Seal U, a practical crossover tailored for family and city use, the VinFast VF 9, positioned as an affordable long-range electric vehicle contender, and the Rimac Nevera, recognised globally as the fastest electric hypercar, impressing visitors with its exceptional speed and engineering.

The summit’s conference programme featured over 50 expert sessions focused on crucial topics such as EV adoption, energy integration, smart city readiness, autonomous driving, and governmental roles in fostering sustainable transport. A key session highlighted policy frameworks necessary for expanding EV growth across the MENA region, with transport ministers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt detailing their strategies to strengthen infrastructure and introduce consumer incentives aligned with national net-zero ambitions.

Craig Stevens, CEO of the organising body, gathered in a high-profile panel entitled “From Better Mileage to Miles of Transformation: Meeting the Demands of the Modern Customer.” Speaking to DubiCars Blog, Stevens remarked on the rapidly shifting mobility landscape: “The conversation shed light on the growing importance of digital-first platforms, personalised experiences, and flexible ownership models—key to serving both city-based and long-distance EV users.”

Beyond discussions, EVIS 2025 provided experiential opportunities. The Outdoor Test Drive Zone was among the event’s most popular attractions, allowing visitors to take the latest electric vehicles for a spin firsthand. Meanwhile, the Indoor E-Circuit Zone hosted immersive technology showcases featuring interactive displays and live demonstrations of EV motors, battery systems, and power electronics.

The closing day of the summit celebrated innovation and academic excellence through the EVIS Awards 2025, recognising outstanding contributions in categories covering innovation, design, sustainability, and research. Singapore-based startup VoltEdge Tech received the Best Startup Innovation accolade for its AI-driven charging network system. Meanwhile, the University of Sharjah was honoured with the Best Academic Research Project award for pioneering work on ultra-fast solid-state batteries.

Several significant announcements were made during the summit. Among these, the UAEV Network was unveiled—a national electric vehicle charging initiative aiming to establish over 1,000 new charging stations by 2028. Plans for a battery recycling facility in Al Ain were also announced to support the sustainable disposal and reuse of lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, a new partnership was disclosed between ADNOC and leading EV industry players to explore hydrogen-electric hybrid transport solutions.

Omar Al Shehhi, spokesperson for the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, stated: “We are committed to building the clean transport ecosystem of tomorrow. These projects are the building blocks of a zero-emissions future.”

The EVIS 2025 summit thus solidified its role as a pivotal platform for advancing the future of electric mobility in the MENA region, drawing attention to emerging technologies, policy advances, and industry collaborations that collectively define the roadmap towards sustainable transport.
