Abu Dhabi’s energy leaders emphasise future resilience on Union Pledge Day

On Union Pledge Day, Abu Dhabi’s energy leaders framed the occasion as both a celebration of the UAE’s founding and a reminder that there’s still quite a bit of work to do ahead.

H.E. Eng Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, said the anniversary really reflects the core principles on which the country was built, as well as the responsibility to turn that legacy into future progress.

“On Union Pledge Day, we are reminded that the foundations of the UAE were built on a shared belief: that unity creates strength, and that cooperation opens doors to opportunity. The vision of our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, along with the Rulers of the Emirates, helped shape a nation whose achievements now serve as a global benchmark for progress, stability, and development.”

His remarks, I think, place the department’s work firmly within the larger national agenda. Union Pledge Day, which is observed every year on 18 July, marks the signing of the Declaration of the Union along with the UAE Constitution back in 1971.
