ENOC Group says energy and resource management initiatives have saved more than AED478 million since 2014 and improved energy efficiency by 21.7%, with water and waste recycling gains reported for 2025.
Dubai-based ENOC Group says its energy and resource management initiatives have saved more than AED478 million ($130 million) since 2014. The group reports a 21.7% improvement in energy efficiency and an 11.5% cut in greenhouse gas emissions intensity. The figures are the group’s own.
Hussain Sultan Lootah, Group CEO of ENOC, spoke on the sidelines of WETEX 2026, the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition. He said water security and responsible resource management are fundamental to the long-term resilience and competitiveness of the energy and industrial sectors. He called for practical solutions that expand water reuse, cut waste and raise operational efficiency.
ENOC says its key initiatives have cut 1.47 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, backed by investments above AED156 million. The announcement gives no period for that figure. Integrating renewable energy has delivered more than AED75 million in cumulative savings since 2017.
Water and waste results
In 2025 the group recycled 688,785 cubic metres of treated water, a 24.45% water recycling rate, and recycled 65.24% of its waste. Water intensity stood at 0.0491 cubic metres per tonne of product, about 20.4% lower than in 2014.
At the Jebel Ali refinery, 72,389 cubic metres of treated wastewater went to irrigation and industrial users in 2025, saving an estimated AED812,000 a year. ENOC’s service station car wash systems recovered 527,043 cubic metres, a 67.6% recycling rate. Dubai Natural Gas Company Limited (Dugas) recycled or reused about 50,053 cubic metres of treated wastewater, an 18.2% rate.
At the Dubai Lubricants Processing Plant, a water purification and softening system is expected to save about AED15,000 a year. About 3,273 tonnes of slops went to approved recycling or recovery contractors in 2025.
ENOC links the work to the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, which targets a 21% cut in total water demand and 95% reuse of treated water. The group says its presence at WETEX is meant to show sustainability progress and share practices that support national water security.
The results arrive as UAE bodies push energy efficiency through policy, including the ministry’s first GEEA roundtable, and as universities widen work on water, such as a water security hackathon that drew 1,400 students.
For UAE industry, the figures show where energy efficiency savings sit across refining, retail fuel and gas distribution. Independent verification of the figures was not part of the announcement.
